Seven American archaeologists claim to have discovered the stone that the young shepherd, David, used to slay the Philistine warrior, Goliath of Gath somewhere in 950 B.C.E.
The artifact, which has now become the center of attraction in the United States of America, was discovered when archaeologists were digging for some materials in the ancient city of Elah where the famous war took place.
Led by Professor Whitney B. Turner of the University of Whimsical Discoveries, the team set out in search of some old scrolls which the archaeologists believe to be part of the book Samuel, only to find the precious stone.
According to the report submitted by Professor Turner, the stone which is approximately the size of an almond was found among other stones.
The report states: “There was something extraordinary about that particular stone when you compare it to the others we found at the same spot, although similar in size. The team realized that there was blood on this. To confirm its authenticity, we took it to the laboratory to run a DNA test. The test came out positive that the blood on the stone was that of Goliath.”

The research team also indicated that aside from the blood on the stone, there are visible unique markings on it that are consistent with that on Goliath’s forehead where the stone hit.
While some people are expressing doubt, Professor Turner remains confident in her team’s finding, saying the world should be proud of the team for going the extra mile to discover one of the most treasured artifacts in the world.
“I know some will be skeptical about this whole discovery. I am 100% confident that what we have discovered is the original stone that David used to bring down giant Goliath,” Prof. Turner said.
The stone has since been sent to the Biblical History Center in Georgia, USA, where millions of religious folks are trooping to catch a glimpse of it. It is expected to be sent to Ghana’s National Cathedral when completed.
