It’s official! The outgone Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Alexander Boris Johnson, is scheduled to fly to Ghana to receive medical care at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
His decision to seek medical treatment in Ghana comes after learning that the country is blessed with the crème de la crème health professionals and also has the best medical facilities.
As part of his reasons for choosing the West African country over the United Kingdom, sources close to Mr. Boris Johnson say the former PM is not enthused about the poor and lackadaisical attitude of dozens of health workers across the UK.
“Many Brits, like Mr. Johnson, have lost total confidence in the UK’s health system because of the poor service delivery in most UK hospitals. As a former PM whose contribution to the development of the UK is enormous, it is only best that he seeks quality health care elsewhere,” the source told News Yard on condition of anonymity.

He continued, “We don’t have enough personnel to care for patients; we don’t have enough equipment to diagnose sicknesses and to make it worse, the UK government does not have enough health facilities to accommodate patients. There is no doubt that UK citizens have lost confidence in our hospitals.”
According to him, Mr. Johnson is of the firm belief that Ghana has better equipment and medical technical expertise compared to the UK and for that reason, he has chosen to always seek medical care in Ghana whenever the need be.
“We’ve heard that Ghana has an abundance of world-class doctors and nurses who go about their duties professionally and treat their patients with absolute care. For Mr. Boris Johnson, this is an experience worth trying,” our source disclosed.

He said Mr. Johnson intends to register for his National Health Insurance Card as soon as he touches down in the country because he understands that once he has the health insurance card, he won’t spend a dime on medical expenses.
He stressed the need for the UK government and other countries to learn from Ghana to boost public confidence in the health sector.
Boris Johnson is expected to leave the UK for Ghana with his entourage in the next few weeks. He will be received at the Kotoka International Airport by top government officials who will lead him to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital to commence treatment.
