Astute politician and businessman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, has over the years held a reputation for continuously butchering the English language at any given opportunity.
In an attempt to silence and shame his critics once and for all, while proving his mastery over the queen’s language, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who is affectionately referred to as Chairman Wontumi recently sat for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exam, only for him to fail miserably.
Per the result that News Yard is privy to, Chairman Wontumi could not meet even the most basic requirements in the reading, writing, listening, and speaking categories. This unusual performance puts him in a position where he becomes the first person in the world whose results fall significantly below the expected standard since the establishment of the IELTS.
According to our British Council correspondent who was present at the time of the test, even the examiners who are known for demonstrating high-level professionalism could not help but hold back their laughter when Chairman Wontumi began to speak, constructing sentences that nobody could understand.
In a letter sent to Chairman Wontumi, the IELTS examiners said that this is the first time that they have witnessed such an abysmal performance from an individual. They recommended that given his wealth, Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako should hire a private English tutor to help him overcome the challenges that he is facing with the Queen’s language.
The letter further states that the British Council has officially written to the Jim Pattison Group, publishers of the Guinness World Records, requesting the inclusion of Chairman Wontumi’s extraordinary performance in the prestigious book.
Our correspondent said despite his failure, the chairman remains undiscouraged, confidently asserting that the British Council should watch out for his second coming which he promises will be stronger than apatai.
