After several failed attempts by the international community to end the Russia – Ukraine w@r, Iraq has stepped out to announce its readiness to mediate peace talks between the two countries. The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine has been a source of tension and concern for the international community and the world, and many have been searching for a way to bring the situation to a peaceful resolution.

Iraq, a country that is popularly known for its conflict resolution prowess, has offered its services without charge as a neutral party to facilitate the discussions that will finally end the conflict and bring stability to the region.

According to the President of Iraq, Abdul Latif Rashid, the goal of the peace talk is to address the issues at the heart of the conflict and find a mutually agreed upon solution.

“Iraq’s main interest in this situation is to find a lasting solution to this ongoing conflict. As a country, we are adept in conflict resolution and we are highly optimistic that our efforts will yield positive result. Aside the Russia-Ukraine w@r, we are channeling our energies into resolving the conflicts in other countries like Afghanistan, Somalia, Yemen, Israel, Syria, Yemen, and Sudan,” he said.

His Excellency Abdul Latif Rashid continued, “The United Nation (UN) has not been able to carry out its mandate of ensuring world peace. Iraq has now taken up the mantle and we want to assure the world that by the year 2040, there will be absolute global peace as it is in Iraq. We are a country that values peace so we become very worried when we hear of conflict in any country.”

Interestingly, this offer from Iraq has been welcomed by both Russia and Ukraine. The two Presidents, Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Oleksandrovych, have therefore expressed their openness to engage in the peace talks that will be mediated by Iraq.

The two sides have unanimously agreed to meet in Baghdad where they will present their cases and explore ways to resolve them peacefully.

It is important to note that the situation between Russia and Ukraine is a complex one. Nevertheless, the involvement of a mediator like Iraq is a positive step in the right direction, and offers hope for a peaceful outcome.
