As the campaign trail heats up, the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has boldly declared that he will singlehandedly pay off Ghana’s International Monetary Fund (IMF) loan should he become the next President of the country.
The renowned businessman and self-acclaimed multi-billionaire said he would have given the 3 billion USD to support the economy if the President, Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo-Addo, had asked him. He said in that case, there wouldn’t be the need for the country to run to the IMF.
Hon. Kennedy Agyapong averred that Ghana is blessed to have a billionaire like him who can save the country in times of financial need so the nation should take advantage of that and make good use of him.
Speaking at his plush mansion at East Legon, surrounded by his fleet of luxurious cars and stacks of 100-dollar bills and gold bars, Hon. Ken Agyapong said he feels sad to see Ghana go through all the difficult processes just to secure the IMF loan which comes with so many conditions.
He, therefore, promised to pay off the loan for the country without taking a dime back only if the citizens vote for him as the next president in the forthcoming 2024 general elections.

The Member of Parliament, known for his controversial comments, explained how he would settle the debt. According to him, he will liquidate some of his assets and sell two of his private islands in Indonesia. The money generated from these is what he said he would use to pay off the debt so that the country can be free from the shackles of the IMF.
“I have said this countless times that I am far richer than any politician that you can think of. I don’t see the need why Ghana has to go for an IMF loan when a rich man like me is around. All the President had to do was ask, and I would have made the money available to the country.”
“That notwithstanding, I am prepared to sell two of my private islands and liquidate some of my assets in Ghana. I will use the proceeds from these to settle the IMF loan. Fear not, my fellow Ghanaians, for I shall personally pay the IMF loan and free our nation from the chains of debt. However, I will only do this if I win the next general elections and become the president of the country,” the lawmaker opined.
He, therefore, urged Ghanaians to make good use of this offer by voting for him massively to become the next president of Ghana. He expressed his confidence in winning the upcoming New Patriotic Party flagbearership race, and as a result, he is currently directing his efforts toward campaigning for the 2024 general election.
