What was meant to be an adventurous exploration to the Titanic wreck turned into an underwater mystery after the submarine went missing on Sunday.
The Titanic submarine which was carrying five tourists including Hamish Harding, a 59-year-old British billionaire businessman and explorer, and a Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his son, Suleman Dawood lost communication with Polar Prince an hour and 45 minutes into its dive in the Atlantic Ocean.
Tour firm OceanGate in its earlier statement indicated that it was exploring all available options to get the crew back to land safely. However, it seems all hope to bring the crew back alive is lost now as latest report reveals something scary.
According to an exclusive report by the US Coast Guard, they have been able to locate the whereabout of the Titanic submarine. What is left now is to retrieve it from where it has been spotted. The report states that the tourist Titanic submarine was swallowed by a big whale, adding a new plot twist to the story.
The US Coast Guard says according to a video footage that they’ve been able to retrieve from Polar Prince capturing the final moment of the submarine, they believe it has unfortunately found itself in the belly of a whale.
The statement describes the scene as terrifying as the submarine, filled with eager tourists seeking an up-close encounter with history, was abruptly devoured by the colossal creature.
Dr. Dave Campbell, a Marine Biologist, emphasizing the rarity of such an occurrence disclosed that whales typically feed on krill and small fish, not fully-equipped submarine so it is unfortunately this happened to the curious tourists.
While the fate of the crew aboard the Titanic submarine remains uncertain, some experts speculate that they may still be alive considering that they have few hours of oxygen left.
Rescuers have directed their efforts in finding the whale. They are also hoping for a miracle to happen so that the Whale can vomit the Titanic submarine just like the Jonah and whale scenario in the Bible.
